HELP!! Car running like crap and Testing AFM

I think my AFM is acting up.

When I start the car, it will run fine for about 15 seconds. Then, the check engine lite comes on and if I get on the gas at all, it will start to miss, backfire etc.

It's an s-5 and the check engine code is for the intake air thermo sensor. The manual says this just causes the ecu to default to a 68degree ambient air temp. Would this cause the car to miss?

I've tried the AFM and air thermo sensor test procedure in the fsm, but I'm not 100% sure i'm doing it right. The manual lists an open and closed resistance measure for the AFM in the specs. However, when I test mine, the # is the same regardless of how I move the afm slider thing. Anyone know if this is normal?

Also, I noticed once the code kicks for the intake themo sensor, the car will run ok, as long as I'm still in the range of the TPS. As soon as I move the throttle beyond it, the missing, bucking etc starts. Does the ECU ignore the AFM while still in the range of the TPS?

Your car will run perfectly fine w/o a AIT sensor, or a malfunctioning one.

Any idea if the problem lies in the AFM? I know it's not what the code is for, but I'm at a loss for what the problem is...

Quite possible. Yours failed the ohm test? Are you sure you did it right? Lots of times you wont get a reading because you have your DMM set wrong.
