Help: Car Only Starts With Push Start

car only starts wen put into first and the car is being pushed then letting go of the clutch and turin the ignition. wat could be the problem

Need more information. What happens when you try to start the car normally? Does the engine turn over--you know, whir, whir,whir--but doesn't start? Or does it not even turn over?

It might help to download the factory service manual from one of the links in the 2nd gen FAQ and then follow the troubleshooting matrix in the manual.

Do a compression test. When engines get really tired they will only run by pop starting.

the engine does not turn over thers no noise

Starter motor or battery

What injectors and ECU you have??? Need more info.
Had same problem and found out needed to have injectors cleaned
and flow tested again.

no start no crank

did you check your batt.?? is it at 12 volts or close? start there.if the batt is good then check the starter for voltage

It really could be a number of things. Like low battery, not enough compression, bad starter, female plug isn't plugged into the starter, etc.

Check for rats in the engine compartment!

GB2K 06-06-07 02:38 PM

Pre crank battery should be reading 12v and during cranking it should drop below 9v, if it does change the battery.

its not the battery i already checked it. but i have stock ecu and stock injectors.

If the engine runs strong after you pop the clutch then its your starter, its either dead and you need to buy a rebuilt one at any auto parts store or it has a loose or bad connection to the ground or battery cable. 90% of the time its a connector or wornout starter.

thanks.. yea i was thinkin it was the starter or bad connection. but heres another question do any of the dash board lights not being on have a problem with it not startin to. none of my dash board lights or emergancy lights dont turn on

I had the same issue, starter would not crank the engine over fast enough. Bought a rebuilt and bam, all good again.
