help..cant get 86T2 to idle correctly
 

well at first it wouldnt idle at all and then after some fine tuning of the throttle cable and a little set screw with a locking nut on it right next to the throttle cable under the intercooler it finally idles at 2500rpm..thats as low as i could get it before it starts to die..what else could i do to lower the idle and keep it running? i still think some of my vacumn hoses are hooked up wrong on the driver's side of the motor but thats only because the haynes manual sucks and i dont have a bone stock t2 to copy off of:(

Well, lets stop blaming the vac rack and hoses. To do that, cap off the metal nipples on the front and rear of the throttle body. It must be a 87tii.

There are three on the front and three on tthe rear,. IF it still races, take a good look at the hoses just below thte back that connects the bac to the turbo discharge duct for leaks. Spray starter fluid.

If it still races, take off the duct b/t the afm and the turbo and examine it for cracks at the mating joints. None allowed.

Make sure the brake booster hose to engine hose is on and has a good mate.

Sometimes the injector grommets are cracked and or the installer installed the injectors crooked etc which causes a large air leak.

The acv might have a busted diaphram inside it. Cap off where the airpump hose attaches to the acv.

Its really pretty hard to say what the problem really is.
