Pilot bearing is toast..Drop trans and change pilot bearing.

or if clutch is brand new and it never worked, you could have put the clutch on back words.

I had the same issue on trannies 1 and 3 that I replaced un my 88 gxl. It spun a linear bearing while slowing down to make a turn. It never showed any warning signs. I was down shifting to slow down and it just wouldn't go into gear. Shut the car off and it would shift fine. Start it back up and wouldn't shift while running. I ended shutting it off and putting it into second gear and starting it up and drove home slowly (was inly about 6 miles aeay from home so it wasn't bad). If your clutch system is functioning properly then the tranny probably spun a bearing, sry to say it but that's probably then cause. I've had it happen on a couple of trannies ninja like with no warning. The rest of them gave squeeling noises on take off and shifting before spinning a bearing lol. At least i was told its called a linear bearing. Feel free to correct me if um wrong (a friend of mine, Jon who usef to work at a transmission shop, told me its a linear bearing. Good luck

Ps: na trannies sell for around 75-150 through my experience. Try to find out mileage though. I've bought many transmissions that made noise upon initial install and didnt last 6 months.

Start the car while In gear with the clutch pressed in, if your car starts to move forward then most likely your pilot bearing. Another trick is to get out and hand turn the engine a turn or so this some how repositions the busted pilot bearing fragments if the case. The most accurate way is to pull the transmission and make sure the clutch assembly is installed correctly. Release bearing could be totally shot as well. Good luck
