HELP! 6 Port LARGE STREET PORT tuning/SAFC II questions
88 vert (on a vert ecu),
Large 6 port street port AUX ports wired HALF WAY OPEN Stock injectors (460cc) Safc II No bac or emissions on it / rats nest Running 4xtrailing plugs (Doesn't run good at all on 2xT 2xL plugs) (Does run decent on 2xt 2xrx8 L plugs though) Premixed Air Filter No secondary butterfly and ported TB Header / Pre silencer / Pre silencer (as a muffler in the back) The car breaks up through out the rev range. I have the SAFC II set to at least +1% fuel on hi/low maps AFR are unknown at the moment, I need to get my bung welded into the header What size injectors should I run? I was going to do 550/460 or 650/550 Should I look into a rtek? |
adding more fuel will just cause more issues. first get the wideband on the car and get an idea if it is already running that rich that it is causing the ignition to break up.
sounds to me like you still are hunting for an ignition issue, like bad ignition wires or faulty coil packs, CAS sensor circuit or EGI circuit. you shouldn't even need larger injectors at all unless you went with something like a bridge port or peripheral port. |
All coils have been checked, CAS is where it needs to be.
Wideband will be coming as soon as i can get it to a shop to get it welded in |
Stick with the 460cc injectors for sure!

Aux ports wired half way open? Why? Your losing potential power. Either make them work or don't use the sleeves at all.

unless the wires are NEW, i would get the voltmeter out and OHM them, mazda spec the wire must be UNDER 16k OHM/foot.
its actually very important at high rpms that the wires be low resistance. fuel, i would try +5% fuel and maybe -2% and see what the car likes. my S4 if anything is lean up top, its 12.2 @4k, leaning out to 12.8 by 5500, and then it richens up again, by redline, like 12.3, 12.4. i put an SAFC in it expecting to pick up big power like an S5, but no, 12.2 is a little rich, but its not 10:1 like an S5.... |

I figure, all the way open and you lose low end, so half way open is the best of both worlds.
Moving 2 heat ranges of plugs should not affect how the car runs, you have problems elsewhere if it does. |

Wires ohm'd good. They are the magnacore ones.
I checked the CAS and reset timing, installed a small coil amp to my leading coil. Reinstalled my rx8 plugs, and im going to see how it runs tomorrow. I may wire the aux ports all the way open.. I figured half way open was the best of both worlds... my other rx7 didnt mind them half way open.. |
