i was wondering if it is possible to convert a na 1989 rx7 over to a turbo'd version. a guy came up to me and told me that he had all the stuff to make my car turbo, besides the rotors. he told me that my na rotors could handle the boost as long as i didn't push over 12 lbs. the turbo, intercooler, wastegate, blow off valve, ecu, and harness are all from a 1991 turbo II. all of this will cost somewhere around $450-500. i wanted to know if this is a smart descisoin and if it will work on my rotors. if any one can give me some input i'd greatly appreciate it.

i say no... if you want to do that id just buy a j-spec for 1,000. then resell your motor for 500.00. im sure your cars got some miles on her and turbo-ing it will just mess stuff up period...

my engine is pretty fresh just off a complete rebuild. so your saying that the compression ration difference wouldn't work for the turbo parts?

the higher compression would work and give you more power and the motor would probally hold 10 psi all day if it is healthy. If you are going to go this route save yourself alot of headach and go stand alone and front mount.

i mean people have done it but on a stock ecu?

the guy says that he has the ecu for it, i was also possibly thinking of getting a stand alone ecu.
