Hellllppp!!!!!!!!!lost nearly all its power

i have a 87 N/A, and sunday the motor basically lost nearly all its power. feels like if it was a normal piston engine that itd be running one 1 or two cylinders. it idles around 200rmp, almost stalls out, and i have to rev it up considerably before i can get enough power to slip the clutch and actually go anywhere, and in order to keep the rpm's up driving around i cant go out of 2nd or 3rd gear. one of my friends said it could be a bad TPS, or i could have lost compression in one of the chambers; another said i might have had a really bad misfire and should check the coils. personally i know almost nothing about rotaries, and i need help!!!

sounds like you could have blown an apex seal.
compresion test it asap

*sigh*, yeah got the bad news this morning...how hard would it be to put a turbo II motor in my car from a turbo II of the same year (87)? and if its too difficult, then is there anyone on this site in the capital region area of new york that would want to buy my car??

Goofy 06-07-06 10:37 AM

It's easy if you can keep the parts straight. Problem is getting the replacement motor, more than anything.

And around here a blown motor isn't a problem. It's an opportunity for a rebuild and a port!

well my friend has a turbo II motor w/ 5000 miles on it out of an 87, all compression tested and everything. what would doing the swap entail? details please!

What is this, the 7th N/A to TII thread in a week, Icemark?

Straight out of the sticky FAQ:
Can I swap a Turbo engine/Jspec engine/13BT/etc into my Non Turbo?
Yes, check these links:
