Im new to this bored i just aquired a 86 rx7 and i got it running today but it seems to over heat like boil over when u give it gas i put a new radiator fan is good and i flushed to coolant system? and my second in quiery the idle on it is spontanious when i idles it goes from about 500 to 2000 ever second or so?? any help would be greatly appreciated so i can get to the track fellas thanks
o yeagh if it happens to be the tp sensor how do i adjust it

Let the car cool down completely. Open the radiator cap, and start the car. If it bubbles, you've got bad coolant o-rings and will require either a new engine or a rebuild. If not, check things like the radiator cap, water pump, etc.

StinkyFatPig Dec 1, 2002 09:23 PM

Does the upper radiator hose inflate and gets hard?

jmseven Dec 2, 2002 12:35 AM

You said bored....yeah...bored.

Did you replace your thermostat? If the top hose is hard from pressure when warm, then it is stuck. Replace it w/ a new OEM gasket, align properly.

I take it that the spitting is from the overflow......

http://home.rmci.net/panther/tps.htm for the tps. The least of your worries.

when im talkin spittin fellas i mean after i start the car for 10 seconds (yes i know itll flood) And i open that cap itll spit the fluid out like a water gun
it may be because its over filled? but who knows it just spews it everwhere

jmseven Dec 2, 2002 11:04 AM

Sounds like a stuck thermostat.

No7Yet Dec 2, 2002 12:04 PM

No, it sounds like bad coolant seals.

Start the car up cold, let it spew (which it should NOT do, btw) and fill the rad back up. If it keeps shooting out water, you need to take it to a mechanic and have them test for exhaust in the coolant, since that's the only real test.

i went to go see if the hose gets hard fellas and then my injectors started leakin this just aint my day i guess
how are they supposed to go in or am i gonna need new seals for that 2

Rotorific Dec 2, 2002 12:32 PM

Your motor has a blown coolant seal just face the fact. As for your injector problem some new o-rings will be needed. Good luck with your car man

blazin91dan Dec 2, 2002 12:45 PM

thanks for the reality check im startin to come down to that fact

blazin91dan Dec 8, 2002 07:46 PM

hey how much for a rebuild on average and how hard is it gonna be to do it

No7Yet Dec 8, 2002 08:03 PM

Overheated engines are rarely salvegable - the rotor housings are usually toast, and if it was REALLY killed, the front endplate will be, too.

Do a quick search - there's lots of info.
