Heated seats
 

I am getting the seats in my 88 RX7 convertible redone. While they are doing them , I had them add heated seats to them. They are not doing the wiring since they don't have the car, just the seats. I am going to wire them up. I believe each seat can draw up to 5 amps when on high, which means I need to hook them to a 10 amp circuit at least. Does anyone have a recommendation on which circuit I should hook the heated seats into. It needs to be a switched circuit so they are off when the car is off. Thanks

I'd wire them separate from the rest of the car, not into an existing circuit.
Run fused power directly to a relay from the battery and then to the seats.
The "trigger"side (coil) of the relay can be tapped into any ignition controlled circuit since it draws only a few milliamps.
Simple, separate and not dependent on any original (and therefore, old) OEM wiring.

i like to use the AAS circuit, its 30amp, and not used. on the coupes, there is a connector on each corner too

Just curious...who's redoing your seats and how much are they charging? I need to have my driver's side seat reupholstered.

I am using leather medic in Rockville MD. I on the drivers seat, I needed the left side bolster redone and the bottom foam repaired/replaced. The are also replacing the bootom perforated section. on the passenger side they are replacing the bottom perforated piece. Then they refurbish (re-dye) the rest of both seats so everything matched. So both seats redone are $700. it was originally $500 estimate but I decided to get the bottom pieces replaced since they were starting to crack. The seat heaters are extra.I will let you know how they turn out.

Just wanted to follow up from my previous posts. I ended up using an "add a tap" fuse adapter and added it in parallel with the cigarette lighter. It was easy to install and wire up. The heated seats work great
