Heat Insulation application areas........
 

I care about my engine being clean and looking nice but not as much as i do about it running well. if i were to wrap certain parts in insulation, which places should i do it.

i already have in mind wrapping the lower intake manifold and some of the upper, Headers? (not sure if it will be good by letting less heat into the bay or bad by keeping the pipes from radiating their heat) what else should i dress with insulation to increase performance or life of engine?????

Have you considered HPC coatings? This would be a much better and easier way to insulate your inlet manifold, but the hp gains are only minor (I've seen this dyno'd). Same for the headers, exhaust wrap works well but doesn't look as good or last as long. Keeping the heat in the exhast gas keeps it's velocity up which means a bit more power.

i have heard of them but i am not quite sure what they are. is it like powder coating??? if it is relatively cheap (or i can do it myself) then i am all go on that.

exhaust... got it now i understand. hotter gas moves faster than cooler gas, right??


i know that all of this is for minimal gains but i am sort of a perfectionist and i plan on making everything as perfect as it can get.

with the intake i am looking to make the gasses enter the engine as cool as possible. i was trying to figure out a way to run cool liquids throughout the metal of the intake pipes. this would have to be separate and much colder than the engine coolant. but the only way i can thik of getting this would be to use an AC unit, but that of course would take more power from the engine than it would give.

ANY IDEAS!!!!
