Headrest speakers come and go

1990 Vert, ever since I bought it the headrest speakers come and go. It appears to be a power issue to the controls, cause then the lights are on in the console, surround, ect, they work. I replaced the switches in the console, and it still works when it wants to. I can work a VOM, just need some guidance.
Thanks!

If the lights in the controls come and go with the sound, you have an intermittent power, but you already knew that. A likely place is at the on/off button. Try finessing the headrest speaker control on off button up and down, back and forth etc to see if you can reproduce the problem. If so, the switch is the problem. I am suggesting this because I have had two of these go out on my Vert. and the behavior was similar at first.

The solution, unless you are good with circuit board soldering, is to find an 'new' switch in good condition.

Welcome to the board!

Good Luck,

Jack

Ok, Since I am driving the car on a more regular basis, I'd like to get the speakers working all the time. One day they work, next 2-3 days they don't. I replaced the console on/off switch with the same results. The subs are working behind the seats, and when I see the lights on in the console, I have headrest speakers.
I know I need to get into the wiring, I am guessing behind the dash. I think it's the power wire feeding that circuit. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
BTW, this forum is great with help and I really appreciate it.

Actually, the more I think about it, I think it's a bad ground. I am having trouble finding a wiring diagram. And any ideas where the ground wires would be physically in the car would be helpful. Thanks

The sticky's at the top of this forum will take you to a site where you can download a all sections of a factory FSM including the wiring diagram for your vert sound system.
