headlights won't come on.....
 

ok this started a while ago while I was out eating and I went to leave and my head lamps wouldn't come on. Neither low or high beams. After getting an escort home they began working after my rpms rose over a certain level and they kept on working for about a week. Now I go to drop off my girl and the fc's head lamps are funk'd. I try raising the engine speed like they were fixed before but nothing. I turn the ignition off and restart and nothing. When I got home I noticed that there is an audible click when going from headlights 'on' to only parking lights 'on' no click when going the other way. I am guessing my relay is fucked up but I am no electrical genious. Any help would be awesome. Also anything involving a DMM is out of the question as I don't have one at the moment, i managed to loose my old one.

ah, electronics. i love solving electrical problems when they arent mine. :D
DMM throws me off. i guess "digital multi meter." i just say "volt meter."
time to start testing wires. if power is coming out of the switch (okay, you dont have a DMM), than its not the switch.

casio's quick use of checking for current (not exact voltage). insert paper clip into wire, ground paper clip. if paper clip gets hot, shocks you, or sparks and flies off somewhere, there is definately current.

warning: use protective goggles when heeding any of casio's advice.

The fuse might blow on you, too, since electrical flow is just a tad bit faster than human reactions, so make sure you jumper the fuse sockets with a paper clip also...Some of Hailer's humor...It's contagious :)

They do make these little items called test lights, if you just can't use a meter due to religious reasons and the like...

hahaha. yea, i have a few LED lights. these were also mentioned in my check engine light thread which no one had any answers for (yea, i'm gonna mention this in every thread youre in :)).

Hmm, when your lights did come on did your instrument panel dim when you hit the brakes? Make sure your negative cable on your battery is tightened to the terminal and taught. I was coming from Ocala and my instrument panel and CD player display went off. After a while all my lights would go off and eventually my car shut off. My damn battery cable was barely hanging on.

did you fill the headlight up/down pump with new power steering fluid???

Don't forget to refrag your flux capacitor and refill your blinker fluid modulation resevior... or just buy a boat!!! WHO'S UP FOR SOME FROSTY CHOCOLATE MILKSHAKES?!?!!! *Que rediculous music/dancing and other irrelevent activities such as surfing*

Ah common man, have you ever seen a headlight motor pump on our cars?

Have you checked the basics yet... blown fuses, headlight switch switching output, headlight relay... etc???

like I said I didn't have my DMM yesterday. I found it today in my desk hiding under my TII ECU. :) I will be checking stuff out now. They work on and off so I am thinking maybe a loose wire somewhere along the route to the lamps? I doubt a fuse would cause intermitent operation. Also the guy that owned the car before me left all the relays all over the place(not on the little rack they come on normaly) so I don't know which one it is exactly. What is the numbering on it? I couldn't find the numbers it is supposed to have it on it in the FSM.
