Headlights!

Is there a way to shine the headlights thru the lenses in the bumper? I mean I know I could dissconnect the headlight motors... but is there a way to keep the motors in the down position with the lights still on?

Would there be any problems with doing this? (like melting the lenses or bumper?) I know the cops wouldn't like it too much.

I searched and couldn't find a quick answer.

Just disconnect the motors. i disconnected my motors for a permenant sleepy eye look and i cant see shit when thers no road lights. idk how ur planning on seeing anything with them coming out those tiny holes.

Install a relay between the motor and the ground.

But I wouldn't recommend driving like that...

ATRON3000 04-01-08 09:33 AM

That is why I wanted to keep the functionality of the motors... still have them there and available but not have to pop them up all the time. So you say intall a relay between the motor & ground... any more info on that install you can help me with?

why not drive like that? I do plan on installing some driving lights to help out in dark situations.

Souf Fla is actually pretty well lit up... I once drove from south beach 30 miles up to Ft Lauderdale without my lights and dind'y notice a thing.

I have unintentionally modified my car as such during an attempt to fix it (headlights would not go down when lights were turned on). When you take yours apart I would appreciate it if you could let me know what the relay in the middle says on it.

Once you get yours apart be sure to take a photo for Micah to add to the site. I currently do not have a digital camera.

Just pull your headlight fuse in the engine bay. Your headlights will still work, but they won't pop up unless you put the fuse back in. I ran mine through the FTP's for awhile, but I didn't have the lenses in there. It works ok though.

why dont you just get JDM FTP lights?
i think corksport has them

I just cut the wire in the cluster switch that goes to the headlight motors and installed a toggle switch between the 2 ends. Then you can drive with them illuminated but down and as soon as you want to raise them flip the toggle switch and they will automatically go up. If you only want them up part way quickly turn the switch back off.

Ding DING!...I think I have a winner... now I have my lunchtime project for tomorrow... good lookin out.

Before you Go Cutting Wires..there is a FUSE in the Engine bay.Called a RETRACTOR FUSE..pull that fuse, and the Light Motors Don't work..the lights Should though..when you Want the Lights to Go UP,put the fuse back IN...That way NO Cutting wires!..(why do people go a Fuck up Perfectly Good Wiring?).

TheDarkRacer 04-01-08 08:18 PM

Im sorry to say but splicing in a extra wire to ONE fucking wire dont fuck up a whole wiring harness. Its one fucking wire, to the headlights mind you. If it was the fuel i could see why ur gonna bitch but u dont need to. We kno u dont like the sleepy eye look, and we dont care. Plus putting in a switch is easier for the long run. That way you dont gotta pop the hood EVERY time you wanna put the lights up/down.

P.s. Look for the sleepy eye mod/toggle switch. its the same thing you want. But your looking for a red wire with a blue stripe on it if im not mistaken.

um hello? in the main fuse box theres a fuse for just the motors just yank it on race day. but make sure to hang on to it as the lights don't shine thru the front lenses real bright

CarzArKoo1 04-02-08 12:10 AM

for better lighting i suggest get rid of the FTP lense to let lights shine through from there. don't cut no wire, just take out the retractor fuse, simple.
