Headers Question
I just have a question. Thinking about getting headers from racing beat, jsut wondering how good they r. Also i plan on installing a turbo will that screw with the compression/ spooling for the turbo? Also how much hp and torque if any torque will i c from bigger headers? thanks
|
RB headers are good. The #'s are not astounding. I had one for a while and I could tell a small difference, but nothing big. It got a little loud for my tastes so I reverted back to stock.

How can u get a header for a turbo?? U mean a dowmpipe
|
I was just going to overlook that comment. Once he sees how much work actually goes into a turbo 6-port, he will probably forget about it.
|
i didnt mean headers for the turbo, i ment for the car, i plan on turboing the car i didnt no if it was gonna mess up anything, n if the #'s arent that good then idk i might not do it i was looking for like 15hp gain maybe. i dont mind loud. I gotta borla exhaust right now so it sounds pretty good to me

i wouldnt b doing the work my self, id b paying some 1 to do it....sigh everthing i wanna do to this car seems to get shot down because its too much work or to hard or some other bs...sigh o well id b happy with the car at about 180hp
|
to much work? too hard?
shoulda bought a civic i read some of your other posts, and i understand that your just learning about this car, but please dont "sigh" and shit when over half of us spend countless nights on our backs and asses coverd in oil. u want 260hp...u said it yourself so go study ur fucking ass off like the rest of us and get it! psh...180hp... |
Let me explain something that every one else has touched on.
The header will replace your current exhaust manifold and mate up to teh catalytic converter. A turbo system will replace the NA exhaust manifold with a turbo manifold and TURBO. The Header will BE REPLACED by the TURBO and turbo exhaust manifold. They both go in the same spot. You have a newtonian problem (Two or more objects trying to occupy the same space at the same time) of trying to run the turbo manifold and turbo and the header. As far as NA power goes, it is a must to run a header to make HP. If going turbo, you can't run it! |
Yeah....where N/A engines can use a once piece header that bolts to the catalytic converter or cat back exhaust, while a typical turbo engine uses 3 separate pieces that bolt to the cat (turbo exhaust manifold...bolts to the engine>>>turbo.... bolts to the manifold...and the downpipe which bolts to the catback exhaust or converter. Now there is a unique turbo system that puts the turbocharger itself further back in the exhaust stream (close to where the mufflers would typically be)....this type of system would allow you to run a header w/ a turbocharger since the turbocharger isnt occupying the same space as the header itself

^^^??? wouldnt that be alot of extra work doing the plumbing for nothing??? you'd have to run the intake altheway back to the motor, sounds stupid. anyway, to the OP, i know your new and all, but there is a thing called a search button, as well as stickies and archives. its pretty elementary knowledge (for all cars, not just rotaries) that headers are an exhaust upgrade for NA's and if you have a turbo, well then you need a turbo manny! as mentioned before, if you plan on staying NA, you exhaust is the FIRST thing wour gonna wanna upgrade( headers, delete the cats). for NAs there are so little options for power increase (without porting that is) that you have to kinda do everything to make it worth it: https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...light=beefy+NA
on the other hand, if you wanna make more than 180 or so with stock ports, better go turbo (or some other form of FI, like myself) long story short, if you plan on staying na, get headers (and yes RB is excellent quality, and ANY change over the restrictive ass stock exhaust manny is a step up). if you are gonna go turbo, start saving and dont waste money on headers since you'll take them right back off anyways |

o, i didnt think you were suggesting it. i was just saying that in general it sounded like alot of work. i got to admit tho, that would be pretty sleeper, but im the kinda guy who likes to look stock on the outside but if i got a turbo under the hood, let it shine!!
