Can anyone speculate on this setup or run a HD suspension yourself?

Guess no photo. Sorry. With all the 1st gen rally cars...wondering why so few of our cars are setup that way?

Title got a little abbreviated from previous posts..just wondering if anyone has rebuilt the suspension without dropping the stance and fitted lower profile tires..

Because everyone knows 1st gens are for rallying and 2nd gens are for Drifting. 3rd gens are for rich people. hehe

driftseshrx7 04-23-05 10:21 PM

LOL seriously

therotaryrocket 04-23-05 10:22 PM

1st gens, 2nd gens, and 3rd gens are all drifters. probably could all be ralliers, and yes the 3rd gen for rich people.

Essentially it's the same setup on the Turbo II, 86-87 Sport, 88 GTU, and 89-91 GTUs. Over the N/A, it features beefier front and real anti-roll bars, different springs, struts, and bigger brakes. The braking system consists of front 4-piston aluminum calipers front, rear vented rotors (vs solid on standard) and 5-lug wheels (vs 4-lug).

The parts are swapable onto another RX7.

It looks like KYB AGX shocks and Ground Control coilovers. Hard to tell though.

3rd gens are for lazy bastards who don't want to work to get some power out of an engine :)

You TII guys are almost as bad :) (that outta get someone ranting)

4wd? Far-out Man! Never heard of that in a 7. I suppose it would be really expensive to convert a stocker to 4wd? Anyone ever use airbag adjustable suspension stuff? Most of my buddies drive trucks & go 4-wheelin' all the time. They give me alot of lip about my little 7. Now if I could make it a 4 wheeler.... hmmmm. Might be a cool project to get into.

Like the stance on the 4wd, thanks all for taking a look. Went back to autocrossing.com and ripped another pic I should have posted with the first one:

Yep, definetely looks like GC coilovers on aftermarket shocks. It's got Eibach race springs (bottom red ones) and some sort of helper springs (most likely softer than the main ones).
