Hawk pads + OEM pads
 

I went to Autozone to get some new brake pads, but all they had were the rears, so i got those. I cant find any place that will have the front pads within a week (not like it matters) so i was wondering if i should just go for the Hawk HPS pads.. but would it be weird with base pads in the rear?

Would it be unbalanced? Keep in mind this is for 95% street driving (maybe one or 2 canyon runs a month)

I will eventualy get rear Hawk pads, just not now (i dont feel like paying $100 for brake pads).

sorry i was pretty vague with that. try 88rotors out of Irwindale. they have
killer deals. they also have a tire shop affiliated with them called K&E.

i have Axxis ULTimates on the front and OEM replacement in the rear....it's a little unbalanced...easier to lock up the front tires than with OEM pads all around, but not to the point where it's uncontrollable. But with snow coming up (at least in my area) it may be a small problem....BUT it's all up to the type of driver you are (finesse or lead foot).

Also, i believe the ULT is a more agressive pad than the HPS.

Typically you want the front tires to lock up before the rear tires... so yes, having performance pads on just rear = bad. Basically the car would be less stable, and spin-happy while braking.

Unless you know what you're doing and are looking to manipulate the brake bias (ie, if you have big brakes on the front, wider tires on the rear, or if with a harder suspension that transfers weight less) without using an adjustable bias valve.

Although the stock bias valve on the FC changes the bias based on how much you're pressing the brakes (less and less pressure goes to the rear).

You can go to a pep boys and they will order them for you. I have hawk pads and love them, but then again I havn't tried anything else yet.

wow...so i read the whole thing wrong...i would just wait until you can get hawks in the front as well...

Don't hawk pads eat up brake rotors over time? Or am I thinking of a different hawk pad?
