having hard time removing intake manifold.. help!
 

After removing the four mounting bolts from intake manifold’s four corners I tried everything to separate it from the engine but to no avail. I pried it a big screw driver and breaker bar and hit it with a mallet but the intake manifold won’t budge. Am I forgetting something? Seems like it is welded to the engine. Aside from the four mounting bolts is there anything else I should remove? Any ideas and suggestions?

I don't own a FC but on my FD there were at least 6-7 bolts holding the manifold down. I don't think FC only have 4 bolts. Check the sides of the manifold to see if you find more. Also, the manifold will probably not move very much while the throttle body is connected. You may want to keep the throttle body connected but just disconnect the intake elbow hose.

That was the first thing I did before going into the removal process of the intake manifold so I thought it will be easy to remove intake manifold without the throttle body but i was wrong.

There are 2 studs with nuts on them underneath the air control valve mounting surface. The rear one is right underneath the rear corner of the surface. The front one is midway between the front corner of the surface and the front lower primary intake pipe. Also, there is a metal tube bolt above the lower front right manifold mount, but on the front of the engine, not the side. Then the manifold should come off. Good luck. :D

You want to avoid prying or hammering a screwdriver in-between there at all costs.
This will screw up your seal with the lower manifold and result in a permanant vacuum leak.

Suparslinc, thanks for the advice . You are right! I wasn't thinking about that permanent vacuum leak when i whack the intake manifold very hard in total desperation to separate it from the engine but next time I will take extra precaution to prevent future vacumm leak or damage to any parts.

Irv, I will go back and look at those nuts and bolts you are refering to. Maybe i'm just blind not seeing those remaining mounting bolts.

BTW, i'm removing all the externall parts of the engine for engine replacement and this is my first time doing this. Wish me luck fellow rotorheads. I know, with all your expert advice I can complete this job with flying colors.
