Having Clutch/Transmission problems

Im on my second FC right now and to be honest ive never screwed with anything but the engines on either. transmissions have usually been that thing i have other people work on but this time I have to do it myself. Latley ive been hearing a strange sound whenever i press in the clutch i was thinking maybee the springs or the pressure plate. But like the fool that iB i let it go and tonight after driving for hours i went to start it and this terrible scratching sound started .i couldnt even make it down the block .bare with me because i dont know much about transmissions ive never really experienced problems . But other than the queit sound from before there was no spongy feeling at all now theres no kick back when i depress?? "88 non-turbo manual duh" anything u guys wanna throw in to help even if u just wanna tell me im a moron just tell me what to do .

Is it only when you step on the clutch, or does it make the noise all the time? If it only happens when the clutch pedal is depressed, that's a classic throwout bearing symptom. What do you mean by "no kick back?" Does the pedal stay on the floor?

if the pedal stays on the floor it could be your clutch master cylinder or the slave cylinder.
