hard or soft suspension...brake pad?

Im looking for info on the hard/soft suspension, in regards to pad choice.

When I go to the local parts store and the Mazda dealer they all ask if my car has the hard or soft suspension. How do I tell which suspension I have? Does it really matter for pad choice as long as they are the pads for the 4 piston calipers?

Here's what I do know...88 Convertible, Aluminum front lower control arms, 4 piston calipers, 5 lug, the car did not come with the leather seats and steering wheel, or tilt steering...(stripped down Convertible...)

Thanks again
Doug

Your car has hard suspension. If you have four piston front calipers, you have hard suspension. If you have single piston front calipers, you have soft suspension or "normal" suspension.

The 4-piston calipers are "hard suspension" or "heavy duty suspension." The single piston calipers are "soft suspension." If you have the 5 lug setup, you'll need parts for the hard suspension.
