Hard to find parts list?
 

Hello all, so i know there are lists for different bolts and such but i cant seem to find what i'm looking for.

It's the jam nut for the idle adjust screw on the throttle body. My dumb ass left it on the intake manifold and drove away and now it's lost forever. the thread size is really small and i couldn't match it up with anything at the hardware store.

Any info would be really appreciated!!

Than you were probably at a shoddy hardware store, see if theres a fastener shop near you

If I recall that is like an M4 fine thread.

Yellow Pages -> Fasteners. If a local fastener store (note: not a hardware store) doesn't have it in stock, the can order it within a day or two.

Any community of any size past about 50,000 will have multiple fastener stores. Or you will be close enough to a larger city which will.

I can't recall having to ever order something at my local store. Always in stock.

Actually wait, I had to order some M7 studs/nuts for a DeLorean exhaust manifold once.

metrics aren't that common down here in the states. the local hardware store where i live now thinks that a dozen selections of metric coarse thread nuts and bolts is ok. the best option i have for metric is Lowes or Home Depot and their selection sucks almost as much ass.

the guys at the counter would laugh me out of the store if i asked to order a couple M4 nuts for $.10

there's actually quite a number of locations like where i am at with limited availability within an hour's drive. going further than that makes little sense, just order online.

So I could make some money getting together a list of what people want in metric, buying it at the local store, marking up for my time and trouble, then mailing them out?

Is US matric hatred really that bad?!

pretty much. in general at any hardware store the metric section is roughly 10% the size of the imperial section.

in vegas i used a commercial hardware store that had a roughly 1/4 inventory of metrics, that is a rarity to come across.

Crazy. My local ACE hardware has just about anything metric you would even need and in regular, chrome, zinc, even silver coated.

And if that fails, which is rare, there is a Fastenal next door.

Yeah, my local Aces have a reasonable selection as well but it's all Euro-spec instead of JIS, so the head sizes are all wrong.
Handy in a pinch I suppose, but I ain't havin any 13mm bolt heads.
Not to mention their prices are absurd.

I work at ace and our fastener section is 14ft long (28 if you figure both sides) and only maybe 1/10 of that is metric, and its Euro not JIS

our local true value is owned by a 80 something year old guy, they'll stock flower pattern shower curtains but he will look at you strange if you ask for a fine pitch metric bolt. :lol:

Fastenal if there is one near you. Online is slow but, reliable.

This has been my experience. Just getting replacement caliper bolts for my impreza was a nitemare. I'll look into the m4 fine thread and see about finding a local shop. I've use and online shop called boltdepo in the past but there is a Fastenal about 20 minutes away from me so i'll give that a shot.
