Handling Characteristics
 

This is kind of a wierd question, but what are some of the more prominant handling characteristics of the FC? At slower everyday speeds(city and highway), for more spirited driving(backroad with long sweeping curves and tight ones), and like at the limit like in autocross or road racing.

I've had an FC since about September and I've just noticed that the car will react many different ways on how and where I drive it. You always hear car reviews talking about the predictablity of a car. That's what I'm looking for. What to expect out of the FC?

Have you done any type of work to it? Shocks? Springs? Bushings? These cars are atleast 14 years old and older. Most of the 'wear-out' items dont get replaced. To really get some consistent results, you will need to do some proper maintenance on the cars suspension.

for the most part fc's will understeer at their limit. but at the same time you can induce oversteer very easily by lift-off and with more power than stock (you dont need that much more power) power over is also very easy. the back end can come out very easily if your not a good enough driver when it comes to throttle control but i think thats something that comes with fr,mr,or rr cars.

you probably need to change out the bushings, shocks, springs, etc like kungfuroy said. if you feel it being inconsistent it is because the suspension is worn out

If the suspension is not worn out, you'll get VERY predictable responce. On the nonturbo you don't need to worry about loosing grip from too much throttle. On the Turbo II you have to be a bit more reserved on cornering & throttle input.

If you're having issues with predictable handling problems, then 1)Replace struts, bushings, swaybar end links, subframe end links, DTSS eliminator bushings in the rear 2)Verify the car is in allignment 3)if the back end is loose/sloppy in the rain buy some good all-season tires with "aqua-channels" built in 4) Repack wheel bearings, verify bearings torqued to proper specs 5) verify tire/rim is balanced
