Half-Closed Headlights
 

I am always seeing pictures of tricked out 2nd gen RX-7's with the headlights half-up. I think it looks pretty cool, but is there some sort of purpose for this? It makes the cars look mean. How do you do this?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, I like RarestRX's reply to this question. Half up looks a lot meaner however, a lot more ignorant. People usually take the pic of their cars when they hit the down lights, this causes this affect.

how to do it
 

you wire in a swtich inline iwth the fuse for the retractors, hit the swtich while the lights are on their way down, and hopefully catch them in a cool postion, then leave em. If not, try again.

and if you want to be really ghetto, you can just rip out the retractor fuse while your lights are going up or coming down
they will stay that way until you put the fuse back in

Ok, now that all of you have gotten your retarded comments about this out of the way...

There are a couple of ways to do this. One is to bend the extension rod that actuates the assembly so that it won't extend as far. The other and much more elegant way is to purchase a trimmer and install it. They are imported from JP. I have seen them at Cork Sport... don't know what they $$$.

Personally I wouldn't retract my headlights halfway unless I had a low-profile light kit installed.

you can always unplug the retractor fuse and hand-crank the lights into the position you want. its much easier to get them where you want them and have them even in case your motors dont pull the same. look underneath the car for white knobs under where your headlights are. if the knobs are missing you can always use a socket wrench. i think 7mm

an alternative to bending the connecting arms is to remove them and cut out a section then weld them back together. i think this is a better idea than bending them. why i think it is better? personal choice.

i like it a lot also. i think its one of those drifter things, i see it a lot in the drift videos and pics

Easiest method:
1. pull headlight retractor fuse from under hood
2. turn headlight raise switch on to up position (not the headlight switch-the, one above it)
3. touch the retractor fuse for a moment to it's receptacle connectors (like you're going to plug it back in) until the headlights raise to desired position.
4. reach underneath the car below the headlights and turn the manual knob to adjust if they don't match in height.

After doing this a few times you'll probably lose interest in the appearance so I personally, wouldn't buy the module...

Try this (not really). Flip your headlights up. Then slowly sit down on the headlights (one at a time-you may need to call up a "heavy-set" friend), gradually applying your (or your friend's) weight to the light assembly. It will then push down and probably break a bunch of stuff inside the assembly. Hey, but at least people will feel sorry for you for having a broken looking car.

Here's the deal,

If you want to do the halfway headlight thing you need to buy some clear diamond back replacement fixtures. Halfway headlights and clear diamond fixtures are a good combo. People notice halway headlights so it looks broken when they see it with the dull stock sealed beams. Also, don't make it really low. Some people leave like 1 inch of an opening and it really looks broken. Just lower it a little. Gotta pay attention to the details...:D
