GXL MC on a base model?
 

Will a brake master cylinder from an 86GXL work on an 87 base model with 4 lugs?

I searched and couldnt find anything useful.

you will end up doing a 5 lug swap, which will be a good thing anyways, bc more stuff is available for five lug.
the rotors are different, so are the calipers, etc.
check the FAQ and search, there are plenty of very informative write ups on how to do the swap.

Edit: i missread what you wrote, i thought you were trying to swap the calipers(which is a good idea IMHO)brake master cylinders are different from S4 to S5 and between turbo and NA...and also, those cars with AAS and ABS have different master cylinders. http://www.mazdatrix.com/j-3brake.htm has the list of different ones.

Yeah...im just strictly talking about he MC for now...I would be doing the whole swap..but I would need to change out the MC for it to make the trip home...and i have a MC on my GXL right now. The GXL does have AAS, but it is not hooked up. The base does not have AAS.

Anymore input for me?

And you can use the GXL/Turbo/Vert/Sport master cyl, but it will have additional hook ups that won't be needed, and your pedal force will be slightly lighter and girly until you upgrade to 4 piston front brakes.

Now..for the extra connection....what type of connections are we talking about here? electrical? fluid?

If fluid...would I need to plug something somewhere?

Any help would be appreciated.

For the AAS, and ABS

I looked throught the FSM about the MCs and couldnt find what connections these would be. Im assuming they are electrical connections?
