Guys need help ASAP for local freind. He changed clutch now car will not idle.
 

Ok guuys, I have a buddy here that is local and he changed his throw out bearing and clutch and now for some reason when he started it wouldnt crank. I ran him through the unflood procedue and for some reason now his car will start but wont hold an idle and will die now. How would changing the clutch do all of this? Anything he could have hit or disconnected? Lemme know ASAP because I am meeting with him at 1:30.

sounds like he put the clutch in backwards. check all lines and connectors if any were disconnected.

It's possible that when reaching behind the intake manifold to remove the upper bell housing bolts that he accidentally popped off a vacuum line

ok guys I found a missing ground to the transmission that was disconnected. I dont know if that would make a difference. Maybe I should connect that?

Before it dies it will idle fine and drive fine for a while, and then right before it dies it will idle low and bounce and you can hear this massive sucking sound behind the UIM. Any ideas guys other than reconnect the ground?

Ok guys this is Josh with the rx7, Derek has been helping me out, he got me a log in now and I will see how it goes. We are going to try putting that ground back on, and myabe it will help, if not then Ill be back looking for some fresh ideas.

a massive sucking would be a vacuum leak... you can use brake clean or a garden hose (just make sure if you use a water hose , that your engine isnt super hot. wouldn't want to crack a exhaust manifold). have someone hold the RPM steady at say 1500 RPM. then the other person needs to spray the area where the sucking noise is to isolate the leak... I am pretty sure you lost a vacuum hose

Did you grease the bearing prior to putting it in?

you can use propane to find vacuum leaks too (easier than water). Just aim a torch (unlit) around the probable leak. RPM will pick up. Don't over due it of course. A few seconds at a time.
