Gurus: Brake Booster Pill Question

Hello,
I was doing a vac hose job on my '91 N/A and while replacing the brake booster vac line (big round dirty thingy in the attached picture) It released air pressure as I took it off. Turns out there was a one way pill in the line and i was not aware of it. The I could not get the pill back in the new silicone hose, so I cut the hose and attached each half on the pill.

Do you guys think this is ok?
If not, how should I get the valve into the hose?

Just to verify, the valve (which looks like a bullet shape) goes in the tapered side to the firewall, and a flat side to the brake booster?

Thanks gurus!

When I replaced my vacuum line to the Brake Booster on my S4, I didn't replace the pill. Didn't even know about It. Same as the one as the Boost Sensor. Forgot that one too. Both are doing Its job, from what I see.

you have to have the pill intact and going the right direction. the purpose of the pill is to aid in braking with disc brakes (they require more preasure to activate than drums). the pill should let air into the vacuum booster and not out of it. i don't know how to get it into the silicone hose though you might just need to get a slightly large diameter hose and use hose clamps to prevent movement. YOU MUST HAVE THE PILL IN CORRECTLY OR YOUR BRAKES WILL NOT WORK!!! and, i don't want to see anyone die in a fire ball.

I'm not too sure but that pill is probably just to keep air in the booster when the car is turned off. so after the car turns off you still get a couple pumps with the booster working. that way when the car stalls while moving you can still stop without having to push super hard.

other then that I'm not sure. I know the turbo II's have a pill there so no boost goes into the booster, just vacum.
