GTUsT getting a small FMIC for now......

Once I have more cash I will upgrade to a better core but until then this will do.......I started 3 days ago....removing the bumper and 1/4 panel (has a dent so I decided to pull it)......today My friend and I fabbed the brackets and welded them in place (not permanently because we have to wait for the corksport front end to make final adjustments) and next week I'll try to get the piping.......I will also be getting a custom TID and I will install my SAFC and AVCR........my friend has his own shop so I have air tools and a TIG welder available for me me.....he's pretty good with cars and does not overcharge like most small shops around town.....

SonicRaT 09-09-05 09:30 PM

Damn, the oil cooler is bigger!

Madrx7racer 09-09-05 09:32 PM

thanks!!!!!!!

lol...........i was actually wondering if anyone turned an oil cooler into an intercooler? lol.....i know it's small.......but I'm hoping it will be an improvement over the tmic.

Fitness Stain 09-09-05 09:40 PM

looks like a good fit ... surely it will do some good

:D

rotary_drift_dreams 09-09-05 09:46 PM

looks good i like how its kinda tucked away...if you were driving and ur a car nut u would spot it in a sec but for the non car nut..wouldnt notice it

Madrx7racer 09-09-05 09:49 PM

i will not have any cooling probs with the radiator NOR the oil cooler.....I already have some cool ideas (no pun intended) to guarantee cooling for the oil cooler.............pics next week

i was originally going to tuck it in front of the radiator BUT ABOVE the oil cooler....and FAB a special duct (get rid of the undertray) to get some air to both coolers)...but it was too big...

vex 09-10-05 01:33 PM

I really like how it looks with the bumper on. Sexy.

MARTIN 09-10-05 01:58 PM

its "OK" if your on the stock turbo and maybe a stage 2 upgrade.

Madrx7racer 09-10-05 02:29 PM

i know...................no turbo upgrade yet.........my goal is 350-400 rwhp.......but right now I'm on the stock turbo.....I haven't found a good deal on a turbo (695 for an S4 BNR Stage 2 with manifold for 690 bux is nice but no cash right now).........I'm doing my upgrades in stages and eventually building up to 350 HP..........next mods: fuel pump and 720cc secondaries.......when? when I have some cash.....lol.

Alien 09-10-05 05:18 PM

The core is fine. People ahve made more power thought the tiny old hks and greddy kits than any one who said "fine for stock turbo" in this thread.

you wunna bet son ???? I had the old greddy kit... that shit got heatsoaked in a minute on a small 60-1... I dont know where you are at, but im in miami, bring me someone making more power than me, on that lil core..

Madrx7racer 03-20-06 08:31 PM

it stands out MORE with the corksport front end...................i dunno how to make it a bit more subtle.............

you're right..........it is a small core but it will have to do temporarily.....should be safe on a stock turbo ...

Madrx7racer 03-26-06 09:27 PM

pics were down........here's the car so far......Next weekend We do the piping and I hope to start her up again......I am working with another forum member on the vented hood and I will continue working on a custom underbelly pan to maximize air Flow.

here are the pics that were posted above and some new ones.

I might look into black mesh to hide it better though.....

after I get her running again I will start installing my electronics......followed by some dynotuning when $$ alllows it.

13b4me 03-26-06 09:48 PM

If you have exhaust, 3" TID, and FMIC, you should probably go ahead with the fuel if you wanna be safe... Lookin good though... :)

Madrx7racer 03-27-06 01:29 AM

right now I just wanna get her running right..............I should be fine with the fuel until I replace the turbo......I have a nice dash coming in also.....A FG Copy of the stock dash......I can't wait to finish this car.......

Madrx7racer 03-27-06 01:33 AM

when you had the bumper reinforced did it fit on your FC? It's a bit off......I was going to rivet it on anyways so it doesn't matter....

When I got the bumper reinforced, I test fitted it to my car and it lined up perfectly... Has your car ever been in any accidents?

rotorforce 03-27-06 08:25 AM

That FMIC looks good. Thats sufficient in size. Great work.
