The GTUs is running and throwing flames

Some of you that I have been working on a project GTUs for about 5 months now. Stage one is finished!! For those who don’t know what stage one was, stage one was;
Tokico Illumina struts
Tokico Springs
Racing Beat sway bars
Mazdatrix end links
Bonez stage one brake pads
Bonez stage one slotted rotors
Bonez SS Brake lines
Cusco rear carbon fiber strut tower bar
Auto power 4 point roll cage
Bonez racing down pipe prescience
Racing Beat cat back
Apexi Intake
Racing Beat spark plug wires
Black Magic electric fan.

Most of the exhaust parts came up due to the fact that the previous owner was a hick from the middle of no where. So when he thought it was time to pass smog he welded on a cat from Kragen and messed everything up, and the exhaust piping was not usable again :(. But on a positive note it should great now :). The only thing I have left to do is take it down to Rick at Rick’s Rotary Performance and have him to a compression check and check the engine codes. I will up date you all tomorrow when I know if everything is good. My website will be done by the end of the week.

RarestRX 10-23-01 10:23 PM

Yo,

Congrats! Your car is looking sweet! I'm stoked your motor is okay. How'd Operation "Yoink!" go? *grin*

What, an NA a money pit compared to a Turbo? Puh-Leeze!

GTUs are so sexy, rare, and very good cars. Turbo 2s have their problems (money money money)
But theyre everywhere, GTUs are special ;-)

Mykl 10-24-01 03:30 PM

I'd rather have a GTUs than a Turbo II. :)

TonyTurboII 10-24-01 03:45 PM

Id rather have a swift kick to the nuts than a N/A. Well...unless it was a GSL-SE. But id put a 13BT in it anyway.

I prefer to feel pure mechanical power beneath my right foot, not boosted power. That may sound silly, but I'm sure you know exactly what I'm talking about.

Not to say that I think that turbos are bad, I'd just rather not have one.

TonyTurboII 10-24-01 04:06 PM

I was just messin with ya. Ive been looking for a nice N/A as my daily driver anyway. I love all Rx7's for what they are :D

Rotary Racer 10-24-01 05:53 PM

I just picked her up a hour ago and the only thing wrong was the O2 sensor was giving a 3-4 second delay of voltage to the CPU I replaced that changed the plugs and now she is pulling hard to 7,500 RPM's!! I can tell the 6 ports are not working I am going to wire that open and change the oil tomorrow. I am going to have my buddy take pics of it tomorrow and by the end of the week I should have the website done!!:) and I would take swift kick in the nuts than a Turbo :o hehe jk I like turbos but I just cant afford to fix them every day :p Details to come soon. Peace

FOCKER!!! :p

The rush of a turbo hitting boost is really very cool, and I totally love the sound. But I feel like I have better control over a naturally aspirated car than I do a turbo, but that's just me. :)

RarestRX 10-24-01 07:56 PM

Yo,

An NA vs. Turbo discussion without me wading in?! Please!! *grin* I understand what Mykl is saving, he and I both enjoy the twisties more than the straight and narrow. With an NA rotary, your torque curve is always going to be the same, with small variations with load, etc. But with a turbo, you do get that "spike" or turbo "rush". I don't know about you, but when I'm already almost at the limits of adhesion, having another 50-100hp dumped into the rear wheels in mid-corning is not something I would look forward to. With an NA, it is every consistent so you can work on your line and car control. With a turbo, you need to balance the throttle at the whim of the turbo, not the road. That's my opinion, of course. Watch Initial D, it's all explained in there. *grin* That's why Ryousuke dialed his boost down in his FC to race Takumi in his NA AE86. Power isn't everything, especially in regards to corners.

I really hate to say it, because it sounds so silly, but that cartoon is so acurate when it comes to driving and cars it's not even funny. I didn't really learn anything new by watching it, but it surprised me by the accuracy of a lot of the content.

Its all about the power oversteer baby. =] Nothing will wet the pants quicker than having 450 horses push you in your seat like the hand of God. Give me a turbo anyday baby.

RarestRX 10-24-01 09:02 PM

Yo,

Mykl, I hear ya. I was just being facetious. I keep telling my buddy about Initial D, how cool it is, etc. and he keeps panning it, but that show is very accurate when it comes to car control, throttle, lines, weight transfer, etc. It's my favorite anime by far. Made for Gearheads, by Gearheads. *grin*

yeah TII is wicked fast yo

Poindexter10thae 10-25-01 12:22 AM

Turbo II's? everywhere? man you live in some magical wonderland. There are hardly ANY TII's down here in austin TX, I searched in the newspaper and in autotrader for one for 2 years now and to this day I have not seen a TII on the road or for sale. GTUs are a dime a dozen down here. Henceforth I was forced to go with my carburated N/A project as opposed to a TII. The only TII motors we can get down here are from mazda, no junkyard has them, and even the local shops that can get j-specs can not get a hold of a TII motor. but you can always order one from cali:D .
At least we dont have a smog test here :D

fuzzi 10-25-01 01:07 AM

whats this cartoon your talking about, and i why havent i seen it ?? Rx7 cartoon... someone let me know what it is lol
