GTU or GXL?

Well I am shopping for a n/a fc3s rx-7. I was wondering what will be better to get. I also looked at https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-specific-1986-1992-17/specifications-what-did-2nd-generation-rx-7-come-w-options-standard-features-249616/ and that didn't help much either. Just little bit. When I did look at that It made me think that the GXL is slower than the GTU because it is heavier... but please correct me on that one if i am wrong. Also does the GTU have LSD or is it just the GXL.

I know this is a repost, but I couldn't get a straight answer from the previous post.

The GXL is the luxory model. You get power windows, AC, power steering, moon roof, auto adjusting susp, rear wiper, basically every option. The GTU is stripped of everything non-essential, so yes it is lighter. I believe it has everything the TII has, with the exception of the turbo

Are you saying the "GTU" has everything the TII has except the turbo? Or the GXL?

Only in 88... The only good GTU is a 88, the 89 and later GTU models were the strippy base model with small brakes and soft suspension that all the S5 coupes had.

The 88 GTU was the heavy duty suspension, LSD, with aero parts, and minimal extra items.

Much like the 89-90 GTUs (note the small "S").

of course the 89-90 GXL was kinda wimpy as well and didn't have the LSD either and had that lame engine speed sensing power steering.

And of course all this info can be found in the options and standard features sticky thread found at the top of this section
