Griffin radiator
 

I was looking at the SUMMIT RACING catalog and notice that GRIFFIN RADIATORS are twice cheaper than the other aftermarket
radiators. Anyone using GRIFFIN RADIATORS?...

Yup. 22X19 Griffin is in the Project 86. Works like a charm. Superb cooling. I am using it with a Black Magic e-fan. It requires fitting in the car since the rad is designed for GM's, but it is easy to do.

Griffin makes the best radiators you can get, and they will make it to your custom specs for the same price (or sometimes less) than the other high-performance radiators. IMO the other brands only exist because of mass marketing.

I haven't seen a Griffin other than in some pictures but couldn't tell if it has a place for the heater return line.Does it have one?If not how do you tie it back into the cooling system?I've thought Of getting this rad. myself.

NO, they don't. What I did was cut the plastic inlet off my old radiator, and put it in the middle (well, actually almost at the end) of my lower radiator hose. In other words, I have a very short hose that basically holds the end of the plastic part that used to be connected to the radiator onto the lower inlet, and the other section of hose just runs to the outlet from the motor to the plastic part. The heater hose goes onto the side of that like normal. You have to shorten the heater hose too, and it's TOUGH getting it all lined up and put together... works great though.

Note that I am using a Howe, not a Griffin- but they are almost identical. This is a 20x19 GM-style radiator. A 22 would be better, but they didn't have any in stock in either Howe or Griffin when I needed one. BDC uses a 20x19 Griffin in his beast.

I think i will be getting the GRIFFIN for sure. One more question. Im will be running an NPR FMIC to my TII and with this FMIC i needed to cut some supports in order to fit the 22x8x3 IC. With Griffin will the IC piping be able to fit along the sides of the Griffin Radiator?..I might have to measure it myself...

That is a kick ass idea Brad! I didn't think of doing it that way. Most others have rigged some tube up then had it welded, but your way sounds much better

BDC uses the 22X19 Griffin if I'm not mistaken. We have the same radiator (I wish I had the same car :) )

Jeff (fcturbo2) - With a FMIC, when you run the pipes I think you will have to cut the radiator supports. I had the HKS installed, and with the griffin I had to cut the supports. There may be some way around it with custom piping.

Cool,now I no longer have to wonder about that.Now I know what to do if I ever get the Griffin.
