Got some cash, suggestions on what to buy?

I got a stock 91 fc, its a auto.

Shall I buy anything or just continue saving for tranny swap? I'm not going to do it till late summer and I'll still have cash by then for it.

I got like $708 right now, just got new mirrors for the fc, fixed the audio/interior more.

I was thinking of getting a catback and get some sort of CAI going, then maybe headers, new cat next month.

Suggestions? Thanks, the car wont be going turbo ever so no need to save up for that, if I don't spend some cash on the 7 the money will go towards servers which isn't THAT needed nor is modding the fc, so I just need some suggestions to make my mind I guess

Saving up as much money as you can without using it is always smart when you have a rotary. You never know what could happen with these cars.....

I would save up more money if you want to do a tranny swap, there is more cost than the tranny/clutch alone. You have to think about seals, mounts and other things that are probably worn out.

lol, I said in the post I'd have money for the swap when I'm going to do it, hell I could prolly pull enough cash to do it this month but the cars not only driven by me, my dad doesnt wanna have to drive somewhere and tranny swap fails and hes out of a transportation method thus I'm waiting till summer.

The car is "mine" I can do whatever I want to it aslong as it wont hinder the driving ability, my dad was interested in the car having a cold air intake and exhaust but I dunno if its worth it or not, etc.

I'm going to have the engine rebuild when the tranny swap is done thus this cash has nothing to do with that, I got 2thousand already for the rebuild/trannny swap funds, by the time summer arrives should be much more.

I'd say upgrade your suspension. The car will feel so much better after getting new dampers. Konis are the best to go with, but require som work to put the fronts in. You can find some in the for sale section that are ready to bolt in or just buy new.

It's gonna be about $700 for the set new. You can always go with KYB AGX if you just want a stock replacement.

suspension. and reliability mods, cooling, driving, switches, ect. if anything doesnt work, fix it first. the get a better radiator maybe e-fan if that floats your boat. clutch hydraulics, seat belts, seats if needbe, tires, then maybe an exhaust and "intake".

Have you considered contributing to an IRA? Rather than eating cat food and living on welfare, you could retire in style if you start investing at an early age. No, it doesn't take a lot of money, and most financial institutions will accept $50/month. Saving for college isn't such a bad idea, either.

If you plan on a full exhaust, I recommend saving your money and replacing the whole thing at once. A CAI is pretty much a waste of time and money for a stock-block NA 13B, so I would focus on something else that would make a bigger difference in reliability, performance, or even looks. As mentioned earlier, a good clutch/flywheel would be nice.

I was actually tied in between exhaust and suspension

The reason I was thinking exhaust is my right rear muffler seems to be fucked up, makes weird ticking sounds, the cat is clogged too. I don't really wanna buy stock parts, it'd be nice to actually hear the 7.

As for the suspension, in the 17 years the cars been in my family, I don't think anything was really changed. My dad used to work on cars alot hes aligned it and such so it drives good I'd say but I think its too soft dunno how to say it.

If I go over a speedbump, the rear end dips alot if I go over it not too fast, what would be the cause of that?

i did a tranny swap from auto to man. not as easy as it seams cause the mounts are in diff locations. you can check out the cardomain page in my sig to see what i did. There is a post stickied on te forum about my swap too.

$2000 sounds like you have your rebuild, porting, and 5speed swap covered.

buy new bushings, brake pads, tires, all new manifold gaskets and seals, have your injectors cleaned, new exhaust gaskets, and spark plug wires.

gut your precats and get a new magnaflow cat. that way it will breath a little better and you wont lose any torque.

K&N in the stock air box is the best CAI you can get as long as everything else is there. (snorkel, radiator plastics, rubber on the hood to direct the air)

after all that search the classified and you could probably get some nice suspension for around $400 and a cheap free flowing catback.

I think the most important thing is putting your engine back together 100% stock. A S5 w/o the VDI and 6PI properly working = huge POS. even with that stuff wired open a stock s4 is faster.

Save your money for the tranny swap.... or if you're gonna spend it, do exhaust. Intake is not very effective for our cars.

I'm pretty sure my VDI and 6pi are working properly, I know my cat is clogged, I think the spark plug wires really need changing too. I have alll the engine bay plastics for the intake and such, so I guess a K&N dropin will be my option.

I was going to have some rotary shop do it, been talking to some guys about it.

thank you for your guy's suggestions.

I talked with my dad, he doesn't wanna go with suspension yet he doesn't have a air compressor to power his air guns nor do we have much space to work on the car here. So I think I'm goingto go with

Catback then replace everything forward next month
Replace the last broken interior parts (I found a auction on ebay with both mirror plastics, side dash plastics, etc for less than 10.
drop in k&n filter
New plugs and wires

What catback would you guys recommend, I'd prefer something that "drops in" we have alot of tools avail but not the air guns, etc. I've always liked the look of the Apexi dual n1, at the Y pipe theres a gasket leak too so getting a catback will stop that nasty exhaust leak.

I looked on ebay for "rx7 catback" I only saw Apexi Evo single pipe, wasnt too expensive but would it drop in or would I have to mod a **** load of stuff

Dual or Single aslong as its made for the car you wont have to mod anything. The apexi N1 dual or singles are both nice. The corksport systems aren't bad either if you want to save some cash.

If you haven't done it already, then do all scheduled maintenance first. Your upgrade list is good, should you want to do that before the manual tranny. I'd skip the headers but w/e. The rebuild alone is gonna be $2-$3k.

Car's been babied by my dad, hes rather smart at cars, the suspension is all aligned properly, everything on the engine seems to work great too.

I ordered corksport catback was here today but I wasn't around to sign, so it'll be here tmrw k&n drop in should arrive in a few days too. Now I'm looking for S5 right rear tail then my 7 should be decent
