got a problem w/ my 86 gxl narrowed down to 3 major possibilities......need help

my geuss is that my problem would be stemming from one of 3 things, and here r the reasons for each:

(1) when last running, my engine seemed as if the timing was off, so i reset it, changed plugs & plug wires, and it still acted the same. checked coils. the trailing coil didn't seem to b performing properly. solution: retrieve "new/good" coils, L&T, from identical rx7 & swap.

(2) when last running, my engine was not burning fuel properly and had a rather strange oder from the exhaust. have yet to check injectors and/or check/clean intake. solution: check and/or clean intake & injectors. retreive "new/good" injectors from identical rx7 & swap, if found to b nesisarry.

(3) engine is just totally fubar & requires replacement..............solution: none currently reconized as feasable.

when problem(s) started, engine performed as if out of fuel. ne time subsequint upon which i tried to start the engine, it required a push start.

ne and all suggestions would b greatly appreciated.

thanx fer yer time,

Try a compression check..and if your engine seems to be Loosing coolant, then it could be a coolant seal(which would require a rebuild)..you could always try a couple things off of Kevin Lander's site ( www.rotaryresurrrection.com)..shows you how to test compression and a quick fix coolant procedure(not guaranteed)..and alsocheck your spark plugs, if your plugs are extremely wet then it could be a sign of leaky injectors (which you could either get cleaned or replaced)..not the best response for ya,but it's a start.Bset of Luck Sarge.

Even something as simple as a loose vac hose to the FPR can run you way rich.
