check the wiring/harness that goes to the fuel injectors

Dude, shorts = suck.

Like I told someone else, there are really only 2 ways to find a short.

Method one: Get a schematic and start tracing out from the fuse. Check wires, plugs, etc... This is the preferred method.

Method two: Stick a solid peice of wire in the fuse location, look for smoke. Smoke=short. Now if your fuel pump is causing your problem, this will result in an exploded car. Not the method I prefer nor advocate, but I have used it sucessfully in the past.

I would highly suggest getting friendly with the wiring diagrams..Or wait for HAILERS, he sleeps with those diagrams.

Used this method to find that I fried my starter and the starter lead wires.

If the fuse only blows when you crank the engine (not when the key is in the "ON" position) then I'd look at the starter motor wires first. Follow them from the battery all the way down to the starter, and inspect the starter. If one of those starter leads is loose or missing some insulation, it will cause a problem.

Did the car crank at all when you turned the key, or did it just blow right away?

it did crank and i think ui heard the starter..and i am actually not sure exactly when the fuse would blow..it make have blown with the key just on the on position..
thanks

if the i can hear the starter does that mean that it can still be a possibility?

krazydru784 07-05-03 08:26 PM

aite guys..heres the update...the starter works..i yanked my fuel pump and its not deliversing fuel in the on position..which i believe it should correct? so its somewhere tied to the egi comp fues under the hood and the fuel pump..any i deas where to start looking? im thinkin a relay but not sure.

krazydru784 07-06-03 07:29 PM

any relays to suggest i check?

krazydru784 07-06-03 09:45 PM

ok guys well..i found another problem..it seems that my o2 sensor plug was disconnected from the wire..the wire may have hit a ground and shorted..but i cant believe that that little wire would burn a 30 amp fuse...i am going to check the fuel pum presistor and relay tonite with a voltmeter..any suggestions would be greatly apprecitaed.

Fuel pump wont pump in the on position unless you cross the little primer harness (think it's yellow) by the air filter. Can't really offer more...

krazydru784 07-06-03 11:09 PM

what do you mean my cross? and i if it is on the on position shouldnt it be feeding fuel...not necessarily be pumping to but still feeding fuel? becaus i actually yanked the feed line off the fuel pump and nothing was coming out on the on position.
