Good Exhaust?

I was woundering what would be a good exhaust for my fc that does not cost a lot.

TYko 05-21-09 05:45 PM

get racing beat or get tickets

Ngomez 05-21-09 06:14 PM

?

duo2999 05-21-09 06:17 PM

he's sayin that any other exhaust other than the racing beat will be so loud, cops will give you tickets.

Ngomez 05-21-09 06:28 PM

That's something I can deal with.

Hecubus84 05-21-09 06:38 PM

You can find a second-hand Borla catback reasonably. It sounds good, isn't loud, and looks similar to stock.

jake1191 05-21-09 06:42 PM

if tickets arent a concern go custom with a set of straight pipes or single straight pipe you can then decide to go fart can or not

Ngomez 05-21-09 07:43 PM

how much do you think custom costs?

Ngomez 05-21-09 07:48 PM

what do yall think of the OBX exhaust?

TheAbsence 05-21-09 08:11 PM

OBX is the ebay exhaust. Check it out on Youtube.

Custom exhaust will be the cheapest.

Are you running N/A or Turbo? Mods? And what constitutes a good exhaust (power, sound, looks)?

Ngomez 05-21-09 08:32 PM

N/A mods are just intake and plugs and wires and im looking for power and some sound.

TYko 05-21-09 09:05 PM

be aware rotaries can be very loud, please dont be a ricer, go for something tasteful unless its a race car then go nuts

Ngomez 05-21-09 09:17 PM

i am aware of that and i understand what you are saying but racing beat costs a lot and i dont have the money for it.

Gringo Grande 05-21-09 10:23 PM

Look...it is a running (but often true) joke that FC owners are broke asses. So many FC owners try and "save" money by cheaping out and it costs them money in the long run. Save up for quality or buy a quality used part from someone on the forum.

I mean what is inexpensive to you? I know a guy with an RB header + magnaflow midpipe + dual magnaflow mufflers. I believe everything including having it welded at the exhaust shop was $600 or so. Not the absolute quietest or but not terrible either.

If you need a header...I have an RB header with 700 miles on + gasket that I'd sell for $220 shipped instead of $300 brand new shipped.

jake1191 05-21-09 11:11 PM

my custom dual straight pipe setup was $190 with two tips at $48 each. plus i can still use the stock mufflers

TheAbsence 05-22-09 12:08 AM

You won't get much power out of an N/A exhaust unless you delete the cats. So the next question is:

How much of your exhaust system are you looking to replace? Just the cats, just the exhaust manifold, just the catback, or a combination of the three?

REPU_74 05-22-09 12:12 AM

go with a cat-back system like 2.5''in.it sounds quite and gets better performance over the stock.

Don't get a straight pipe for your n/a. Whatever exhaust you go with, make sure it has a quality presilencer, that really helps with the noise.

Just don't get something super loud, nothing screams 'ricer' like a 130hp car that sets off car alarms.

jake1191 05-22-09 09:09 AM

my custom dual straight pipe setup was $190 with two tips at $48 each. plus i can still use the stock mufflers if i ever need to switch back. BTW nothing ricer about my car and it isnt even that loud

Newsflash: Tickets cost a lot, and in many cities the ticket will specify that you must fix the problem within so many days or have your car impounded.

If you need money, just get a part-time job at your local supermarket or fast food joint. You will need more money for future parts anyway. Old sports cars require a lot of repairs, and I promise you the exhaust is only the first of many parts you will replace.

I apologize if my questioning sounds rude but I doubt you gained a ton of hp without adding a header to this setup. Stock manifold + new pipes isn't some huge OMG 30+ HP gain. Louder does not = more power. =)

jjwalker 05-22-09 09:53 AM

The previous owner of my car replaced the stock mufflers with glass packs. It isn't really loud either, just a nice rumble without all the high pitched fart noise.

Everyone says glass packs cant stand the heat of a rotary, but mine aren't blown out yet.

he never mentioned anything about gaining power.

Removing cats will provide a noticeable power gain. I personally don't think its worth it since you're polluting so much more and the fact that its illegal.

depending on where you live. here in my town you can if you really felt it necessary you could run the car just off a header. dont need any of the b/s on your car
