Going to Look at a 90 Convertiable...

...on Friday. Since I'm fairly new to the RX7 and rotary world, I was wondering if there where any particular things I should look for on the car and such. Like I posted it's a white 90 convertiable with 85K miles on it.

Some of the guys on the motorcycle board (www.cycleforums.com) I frequent mentioned that this was a really good place for info, so I thought I'd check it out. Thanks ahead of time for any help!

Hmmm...

- go out and beat on the car when you test drive it. leaving the engine running, check and see if bubbles are coming from the overflow hose - if they are, the engine's dead (like a blown head gasket)

- if the temp gauge does not sit dead level, the engine's dead

- the car should pull all the way to redline, with no hesitations or sputters

other than that, it's all standard car stuff

Are there any issues with the top that I should look at? I've done the normal convertiable top before, but this one seems a lot different than the one on say a 76 MG Midget.

Over and above the usual items, appearance and driveability, as with any other car, check clutch if manual, exhaust system, and have a compression test done. This will give you an idea of engine condition-rotor seals.
If you do a search, you'll come across many other points of interest.
Good Luck!

the top can be a problem, or it can be perfect. Test it out. bring it up and down a couple times. Make sure the motors are strong. Check for spliting or tears. Make sure you get the cover for when it is down and check to make sure all the clip things on it still work.
