all right i obviously know this isnt supposed to be here but why would a chain be bolted above the differential on the subframe by the sub link and the passanger side lat link.there is about an inch in slack above dif . here is a illustration red would be the chain. by the way 87 tII . sorry it so small id take a real pic of it but my dog ate my camera

Most likely because the differential mount is broken and they got tired of hearing the "thump" everything you change gears or hit the gas. I did this with mine for a short time because the noise bothered me so bad, and was embarassing. I used a ratchet strap though.

Just fix the broken diff mount and install a pinion snubber.

Wouldn't have expected that kind of "engineering" in Maine...

YaNi 07-01-10 03:06 PM

Holy rust batman!

bostonspgs 07-01-10 05:02 PM

actually the car isnt from maine , rust this car is practically new you ever seen a car from maine after 1 year? didnt think so this car has never seen snow, id say 24 years later that surface rust is miniscule. btw this isnt arkansas were not rednecks , thats marvelous engineering from any states hack shop workers my guess this was done by one of the great hacks in mass where the car originated . i have about 500 into this car

bostonspgs 10-28-10 07:50 PM

So I'm thinking now that i can kinda street the car ( with some bad throttle response ) that this is my bucking sensation? Any one else have this and feel like they just learned how to drive a stick? All the way into 5th??

K-Tune 10-28-10 08:41 PM

sounds like TPS is out of spec.

bostonspgs 10-28-10 08:59 PM

nope my differential is chained on my friend , when you mat it the angle of the driveshaft changes +/- 5 degrees giving you a bucking , or better yet hopping sensation.

Hybrid G 10-28-10 09:50 PM

Yah , thats about where I'm at . Who would even consider this to be an ok bandaid is beyond me. Atleast its in better hands now . Throttle issues fixed.

iani1.1 10-28-10 10:28 PM

some improper old school muscle car were kinda the same, they were chained down and welded

bostonspgs 10-28-10 10:32 PM

Most of them had u joints slip yokes and solid axle . Ias makes this wrong on so many levels.
