getting annoyed startup
Ok so about once a week at random my car wont start after going in and out of a store after getting it up to operating temp. Its an 87 T2 and I replaced the o2 plug wires, plugs oil and battery with an optima red top. It normally takes about 4-5 times turning over before it starts even when cold(sometimes only twice its sparatic(sp?). Ill go into a gas station and fill up or go into the grocery store come out and it will not start. I have to get out push the car and pop the clutch to get it started then it will work fine for a week. My only current mods are turbo timer, 3 inch exhaust, 10 mm plug wires, ngk plugs, intake filter. It has done this since about the second week I owned it and only happens once or twice a week. I run a few bottle of lucus fuel system cleaner about once a month and use 93 octane most of the time otherwise 91. It idles normally all the time except every once in a while it will bounce around between 400 and 700 but then once I drive off and get up to cruising speeds it will go back to normal. that only happens maybe once every two weeks. What else should i do. I have an safcII that will be here tomm and I wonder if maybe i can get that to let less fuel in or something??? After cranking 10-12 times I can smell fuel but thats because its flooded at that point. Could it be injectors, starter, grounding to batt, or maybe something like a crame cams HI 6 would help gett better spark. I dont know. All I know is its really getting old especially in winter. :(
