geting a hold of a t2 motor
Im going 2 be doing a t2 swap this spring. so does anyone now what the best way 2 get a hold of a t2 engine is? I would like to go through an engine import place 2 make things as easy as possibul but I dont know wich place is the best to go through. I mean most places I have checked dont have warrenties on rotaries and dont even know how to compression test them right. I just want a moter that has good compression and dosent have high miles. does anyone here know what the best engine import place would be the best for me to go through?

spell check..aisle five...(motor)
Import places are like Russian roulette.Have you considered one of the rebuilders on Forum? At least you know that the engine will be good. |
Who are some popular rebuilders on the forums?
All the "jdm tyte importers only 40k miles bro" guys sell the complete t2 swap with harness and tranny but I don't feel comfortable with going through the trouble of swapping one of those in to find a blown motor. |
if you're going to get a use t2 motor, i think i would be a good idea to get rebuilt anyways. just to be on the safe side.

i don't know about you guys, but i spin every engine over to see if its got compression before i put it in, and look in the exhaust ports to make sure there is nothing obviously wrong, even if its new.

Nearly 500 posts and you still type like an 11 year old girl texting?
Consider any imported engine to be a rebuildable core, unless you have video footage of it running well before buying it. |
you can totally get a moter at the moter-a-rama on 5th street

You can find engines cheaper if you get it from a junkyard but they'll likely have higher mileage.
Its all in how much money you're trying to spend, case we as how much work you're willing to put in. I got a junkyard turbo s4 engine for $250+ taxes , all apex seals intact 160k miles supposedly. I got my 87 turbo2 car with 94k miles pretty much complete with a blown coolant seal for $1000. There are better deals then jdm engines , you'll just have to try harder to find them. honestly used JDM engines are like they have said russian roulette so, maybe if it was compression tested and leak tested. if u are in need of a t2 block buy a decent compression test block and send it out for a fresh rebuild using the existing counterparts if possible. There are many rebuild companies/techs on this forum that can help you out, some more affordable than others,SAVE FOR A REBUILD. do it right the first time

and hopefully find a decent shop, not just the cheapest that pops up first.

Contrary to popular belief, being hooked on phonics is still better than t2's
