General tune-up next Monday. Any ideas ???
Rex is bound for a general service/tune up next Monday. Standard things to be done:
1) All fluids changed 2) All filters changed 3) Plugs/Wires changed 4) Radiator flushed 5) Oiling/greasing 6) Check things that need checking 7) Check intake for pressure leaks/tighten intake tube 8) Check exhaust for too much backpressure 9) alignment 10) Fix various little things inside/outside of car Other than the above (and some more things that are already dealt with or mentioned in the manual), what other stuff should I take care of (or tell the mechanic to do so) ?? The car has absolutely no problems besides: 1) loss of boost under WOT or as the rpms climb 2) when drifting to the right, i can hear a sort of clunking noise (from the diff ??) 3) a bit too high consumption What do you think guys ? |

Seriously? That Rain-X shit is great! I normally just drive around with no wipers on in the rain and it works great. The water just flies off the windshield. I used to know this girl from greece. She was HOT. Aphrodite Delios. DAAAAAAAMN.
But you should get some of the X shit, hell i'd try to find it in the UK, so shipping wouldn't be as punishing... |
-Timing
-Couldn't hurt to flush the good ole Fuel Tank -Get a new o ring around the Oil Filter -Vacum Leaks? -Yea Rain-X is cool -If you had the money go with all new hoses -I think we hit it all |
Yep, I recommend changing the radiator hoses and all belts every other year.

About the hoses, I might decide to get rid of everything plastic and replace with silicone...dont know the cost yet....
Come one guys, anyone else ? Nobody here done the 95-100K service yet ?? :D |
Well, just got my Rex back :D, and here's the low-down:
1) Fluids, filters changed all around 2) Intake checked and secured 3) Plugs cleaned and adjusted (head honcho there told me that they were like new , and they dont need changing for another 10K km) 4) CR checked (8:1 all around) 5) Belts checked 6) varous minor things done I still cannt shake the feeling that my Rex doesnt boost as it should. I still cannt get anything more than 200mmHg in 1st and 2nd, and 300mmHg in 3rd -consistently. 4th and 5th hit almost 400mmHg easily, so its cool. Even if I hit these max boost numbers, then the pressure starts to drop almost immediately (in 1st, 2nd, 3rd). I know I must be in need for a more freer exhaust, but the guy in the shop (which was head engineer at Mazda Hellas a while ago, so he knows his stuff) assured me that this is -more or less- expected behaviour. What do you guys think ? |
Sounds about right...try getting a downpipe. Cats are evil.

I have posted a supertuneup step-by-step in another thread....
see this thread.
Here i responded to a stuck port issue, but my remedy contains all the steps needed to return your car to "like" new condition. (As close as it will allow) |

Yeah Sniper, I've read that thread, and know that I must do a couple of things from your "list", but Josepi is right, I dont seem to have a problem with my ports, cause I dont have any :D ,or rather I dont need any "6port solution". My problem -if it is indeed a problem- is my boost pattern.
Taking into account that 700mmHg equals 1bar, my 200-300-400-400 (which equal 0,3-0,4-0,55-0,55 bar) pattern, and particularly my loss of boost at WOT seem peculiar, to say the least... Something's afoot my dear Watson :D |
well. of COURSE...
Thats why i qualified it by saying it was in respose to another question.
But I assumed that you would glean off the other information and make sure that you did these things too..... |
