I've tried/used Redline MT90 in 2 different transmissions recently that were starting to show their age, and it helped both quite nicely.

Rx7Nub 06-05-03 04:38 AM

Always heard good things about redline.

BlackR1 06-05-03 04:44 AM

for the tranny, Neo is a sure winner. You can tell a big difference in using the Neo over the Redline as far as the tranny goes. (70w90 racing)

For the diff, it doesnt really matter

Icemark 06-05-03 10:23 AM

MT90 for the tranny

Black13B 06-05-03 11:01 AM

ill back up that MT90, i switched over to MT90 and it made a noticeable difference..

anyone seen that "LSD additive" gm sells? comments anyone?

is there a good gear oil to use w/ or w/o additives for a stock LSD?

Psychoblue23 06-05-03 01:13 PM

Well my problem is im grinding in 2nd and 3rd and I was told upgradig to one of these 3 would help possibly. So should I still go with the MT90?

Black13B 06-05-03 01:14 PM

get MT90.. if it doesnt help.. then.. you may have a bigger problem

but usually simply a tranny oil change helps.. and MT90 as a replacement works excellent

has anyone used the mobil1 full synthetic 75w90 MT gear oil? thats what i bought and i'm about to put it in. just wondering. i would think any full synthetic oil would just just as good as any other full synthetic oil.
anyone used the mobil1?

c-squared 06-05-03 03:42 PM

I wonder how many who are running redline have tried Neo. I have tried both, and vastly prefer Neo.

pmr2000 06-05-03 03:59 PM

I just put in Mobil 1 75-90 full synth in tranny and rear, so far so good. I know its a little lower than the owners manual but was too lazy to order redline or royal purple.

j200pruf 06-05-03 04:57 PM

Hey Jacob, I am putting in Mobil1 full synthetic 75w-90 after havine Rob at PR recomend it to me for a street transmission.

rx-7fc 06-05-03 05:17 PM

i have tried neo, royal purple and redline and i like neo a lot better and i had redline in my tranny when it broke and some one else said they broke two trannys with redline and lasted about the same time mine did with redline so i don't use redline any more and with the neo i felt a diffrence and you should feel how a rebuilt tranny feels like

Dak 06-05-03 05:41 PM

I have had the Mobil1 in my tranny for about three years now and it seems to have did fine. Its probably time to change it though so I may go to one of the above listed or at O'Riely's I found some Castrol Syntec full synthetic gear oil I may try.Does anybody know anything about the CastrolSyntec stuff?

bingoboy 06-05-03 06:12 PM

one thing to consider, when i put redline into my transmission it was the first change i had done since buying the car. it may not have been that redline is great but rather that the fluid that came out was grimy sludge. i think any new fluid would have made a world of difference. there seem to be 2 people who like neo over redline that have tried both, maybe ill try some neo later on.

Dougster 06-05-03 06:31 PM

I have used Redline in the past with good results...Never have heard of Neo?

Psychoblue23 06-06-03 04:48 AM

hmmmmm, ok now I am confused. Icemark care to enlighten us?

confused about...?

if you mean about oil for the differential...there are gear oils specifically for the trans, they have additives etc that help out the internals. for the differentials you can use a standard gear oil of the correct weight, however brands like redline also make synthetic gear oil for differntials as well. the FSM says 90 weight for the diff i believe.

Psychoblue23 06-06-03 06:12 AM

I am just confused which to go with. Normally i would be simple. Try one if it doesnt work, try another. But since I on a spend as little as possible budget. im trying to go with the best possible one the first time around.

Has anyone here tried GM Synchromesh?

It's something I discovered a few years ago and have used it in all of my cars and convinced many others to try it with awesome results. Most people switch from Redline or Royal Purple over to Synchromesh after trying it...

I've never tried Neo, but Synchromesh was far superior to Redline or Royal Purple, of which I have tried both many times.
