Gasket maker for intake manifold?
 

Would the permatex gasket maker i have be ok as a replacement for my intake manifold gasket? Its the one that is between the UIM and the plenum. I need my car for tonight and wouldnt be able to get the gasket from mazda till wednesday... How long would this fix last? Its the regular temp stuff, not the hi temp, but i dont think that would be neccessary anyways... Oh and the stock gaskets seem kind of brittle imo, are they not? I felt the one from the plenum to the LIM and it seemed brittle to me, or is it just from the heat?

You might be able to but I don`t think you will find to many here that will advise you to use it. Something else to consider, the silicone will need 24 hours to cure, if you try to run the car before the stuff is fully cured you risk sucking in the material causing a vacuum leak.

I recommend waiting to get the correct gasket so you only do this repair once... ...right!

Buy a roll of gasket paper from the auto store. Buy an exacto knife. Buy a pencil or other marking device. Make your own and use nothing else.

Frankly I don't know what Permatex gasket whatever looks like.

You could use regular RTV buy you have to use it sparingly so when the two parts come together you don't end up with excess RTV hanging over the bores waiting to fall off at some later day. IF you use RTV then put a smear on one of the surfaces so when you take the intake off later the RTV will stick only to the one surface.

Yeah. Gasket paper, exacto knife and a marker. I give you a half hour to an hour to make it.

You could take that gasket paper and set the intake manifold on it and mark around the manifold on the paper. Then cut out the outline.

Then smear a light film of vaseline on the intake manifold. Very light. Then put the gasket against manifold and press hard. LIft the paper off and you'll see the outline of the bores on the paper. Cut the holes out. Done except for the stud holes.

Buy the gasket paper. Its $10 or so for a roll of it.

If you find you can't sleep at night later, buy the gasket from Mazda.
