Gas in oil...probably NOT seals
 

I've got an 88 NA, which had been having a problem with running rich, and getting gas in the oil. This was getting worse and worse until finally the engine blew due to an unrelated issue of the MOP not working and the apex seals blowing.

I have now put in a new motor, which I have about 1500 miles on and am having the same problem exactly. I broke the new motor in correctly, and have not really driven it hard yet. It's been suggested that running too rich could be the problem, which I have addressed by replacing the coolant temp sensor, the O2 sensor, injectors, tps, and checked the mass air flow sensor which is working fine (and yes, the variable resistor for as little as it does is set to full lean).

Does anyone out there have any ideas on this? How the hell could I still be running too rich?

everything has to have time to Break in.The oil eis bound to at least have a little gas smell to it,If the Engine is Breaking in.The Seals just don't Magically Seal up like THAT..and the compression flys up to Spec.It takes time to Settle in..so,Gas smell in the oil?Yes...but do yourself a Favor..change it,Often,until the Engine does break in.The engine will be Settling in,and taking the Metal with it,to create a proper seal.so you may find something In the oil.That is whey people change the oil often on Break in Engines..And Gas washes off an Oil film,so be aware of that also..Gas IN Oil,is not a Good thing,especially for Lubrication purposes.

Gas smell in oil is normal. Make sure you have new plugs and wires as well and are running a stock fuel pump. You'll be fine.

have you flooded it at all?
because if it has flooded then that what the gas is in their for...
