gas mileage on a rx7

whats the average gas mileage your rx7s are getting now-a-days?

TurboIIGuy 06-28-05 02:00 AM

hahaha....when my turbo II was till running at 116,000 miles on the odometer it was getting about 15mpg street. that was with a full Racing beat exhaust. and an FCD plugged in.

rotary777 06-28-05 02:01 AM

kool, my friend's 91 n/a runs 11mpg and im getting a 91 n/a too but, i forgot to ask for the gas mileage. any suggestions for better gas mileage

SonicRaT 06-28-05 02:23 AM

I got around 31 highway, and about 24 city. (Before the turbo, at least...lol)

mali_FC 06-28-05 02:25 AM

I'd say 20 miles / gallon....not sure....it all depends on how the engine is maintained.

gxl90rx7 06-28-05 07:39 AM

I get about 19 mpg with my 90 GXL, and about 23 mpg with the 88 SE

MattB 06-28-05 07:52 AM

im getting around 16mpg with my 87 Turbo II 111,000 miles

Mindspin311 06-28-05 08:06 AM

13 around town and 20 in the highways, should go up once the car is tuned tho

JSmith0101 06-28-05 08:24 AM

I get about 21-23 highway with a base 87 with all the options. I really don't know city too well, since I never really get city miles.

gingenhagen 06-28-05 09:23 AM

16 driving around the suburbs.

Tournapart 06-28-05 09:30 AM

i get shit for mileage....lol

TwistedRotors 06-28-05 10:19 AM

Best I ever got on my TII was 26 mpg.......city driving is probably around 15. Rtek 1.5, Racing Beat Turbo Back and about 10 psi. I didn't buy this car to save gas. ;-)

ROTARYROCKET7 06-28-05 11:15 AM

15mph i think

RXgirl7 06-28-05 11:53 AM

i get horrible gas milage when im driving for "fun", but if i stay under my secondaires my 5th and 6th ports dont open up and i get like 22mpg or something like that :bigthumb:
but thats just not as fun...

Janus 06-28-05 12:24 PM

My GTUs gets around at least 22 mpg highway believe it or not. It used to be much worse until I did a full tune up, fluid change (w/ water wetter), and replaced the O2 sensor all of which helped I'm sure...

sudseh 06-28-05 12:28 PM

14city, 23highway on my engine (vdi/aux ports not working, slowly dying front rotor)

buttsjim 06-28-05 12:33 PM

I'm starting to think in terms of "gas yardage"

cbrinega 06-28-05 01:02 PM

25 mpg on the highway. I wonder what SonicRat's setup was to get 31 on the highway? Aftermarket ECU???

SonicRaT 06-28-05 01:53 PM

Nope.

'89 GTUs, cone filter with a box, 2.5" off my manifold to a resinator, then 3" back to a y-pipe, and 2.5" off the Y to two ebay mufflers. Had a complete tune-up, also had a vac leak. Running at around 75-80mph on the highway between Ohio/Pennsylvania, yes my aux ports were open since that's around 3750-4000rpm on that car. EGT's were around 730C, just barely sitting in closed-loop.

WonkoTheSane 06-28-05 01:54 PM

um.. I just got 11 MPG on my first tank of gas after my Megasquirt was put in.. Of course, I only really used about half a tank, and this only included about 60 miles of actual "driving", a lot of idling and 11 autocross runs... So I'm happy with it ;)

speed_monkey 06-28-05 01:57 PM

With city driving and a few spirited runs down back roads ;) I get ~18 mpg. Thats with a N/A that has exhaust and a basically hollow cat. :)

Schmitty 06-28-05 02:05 PM

Cant really say what my average mileage is but I got 400mi on 1st 3/4 tank after rebuild... I'm on my 2nd tank now.

felixwankel88 06-28-05 07:04 PM

im geting 8mpg currently i need to fix it lol

Hey Rat, you in Houston yet?

My last fillup (yesterday) was 28.18 mpg, and I bet if I could keep my foot out of it I could hit 30 easily...

How the heck are you in closed loop at 3750 rpms? I thought closed loop kicked out at 3500?

SonicRaT 06-28-05 08:07 PM

That's strange, I can usually be within closed-loop up to about 4K. Yeah I'm in Houston.
