gas mileage, high altitude use??
just bought an '86 rx-7 and am only getting 15 mpg with a/c on. what to others get? it also tends to flood in starting and i am wondering about high altitude adjustments. help anyone? thanks, jp

You don’t mention if it’s a Turbo or not. My Turbo averages 17mpg with occasional A/C use, constant use will have a big impact though. If it's not a Turbo, that's a bit low. Check to see if your O2 sensor is connected, it's there to improve mileage.
The ECU uses an atmospheric pressure sensor to make adjustments for higher altitudes, so that should be OK. Dirty injectors in the number one cause of flooding in these cars, and they won't be helping your mileage. Take them out and have them professionally cleaned. |
ok, i am only getting around 13-15 street, and max of 20-22 freeway. I am a 91 N/A with only intake. When i got my smog pre test done the guy said that i was running rich, i dont know how he could tell, but would running rich cause me to be getting shitty gas mileage like that? if i am running rich, how do i change that, do i get a tune up, what?
