fuel tanks / pumps difference

i was swapping my walbro pump to my new car and i found this :

S5 fuel pump assembly will not fit S4 fuel tank

why?

because its longer

because S5 fuel tank is 70 liters (18 gallons) and S4 fuel tank is 63 liters (16.6 gallons)

other thing i noticed is tricky design inside fuel tank to keep fuel around pump in turns ;)

some pictures are here :

Baffles.

BTW, the pumps themselves are basically teh same, just the brackets different lengths. You could take one pump off of one bracket and install it on another if you wanted. Same for turbo or nonturbo pumps.

you are saying flow of all 4 types of stock pumps is same?

btw, anyone does have part numbers for pumps?

S4 NA
S5 NA
S4 TII
S5 TII

?

and if different flows, could u include flows with part numbers to each pump?

No. There is obviously a different flow pump for NA and turbo. As far as I know, there is no flow difference in s4 and s5, however.

So, there are 2 distinct pumps(turbo and NA), and 2 distinct brackets(s4 and s5), any of which can be mixed and matched.

by any chance u`ll not have part numbers of those 2 pumps? :o)

hypntyz7 07-20-03 03:02 PM

no, I have never seen that info posted anywhere.

hIGGI 07-20-03 03:06 PM

i have few pumps removed and could write info of them, but i don`t know now which one is TII and which is NA :P

fastrotaries 07-20-03 04:21 PM

the part numbers for the TII pumps are the same, and the NA's as well. This mix and matching stuff is actually outlined in the shop manual.

What? if you want to do your TII conversion, this is the small details of stuff that you will have to know. IN the end though, just a supra TT pump.
