Fuel Rail Guru's - Jspec? US spec?

Ok, so since my FPD failed, we threw in one we had lying around in - aparently from a Jspec engine - so it looked a little different but that didn't seem to stop us...

So when the engine didn't start we went and check the Oms or however it's spelled since we had replaced all the electrical lines, and had switched it over to HI from LI. They all measured 12.7 to 14 Oms - so that was good. So we pulled off the manifold to see what was wrong. and the injectors were not spitting out fuel.

So we squeezed the clamp to see if there was fuel in the rail - and we got sprayed =)

Sooo - do we have this "Jspec" fuel rail backwards or something silly like that? are we better off banjo bolting the original? what are we doing wrong - they do look different

note the difference between the original (that failed) and the "new one" that we got off a "jspec" lying around in the garage. (if it's not clear, the "jspec" one is the one currently instaled with the vac hoses on both sides...the original one didn't have that...

Any info is apreciated as always.

Thanks,

~Erik

Swap in your old injectors from the line with bad FPD

ErikTheDead 11-11-04 10:58 PM

the bad FPD caused the fire - the FPD in there now must be set up wrong, and i'm asking is there a way to fix that, or what? We know there is presure, but that is not getting to the injectors, but the injectors are reading corrently - oms wise.

UH...

It looks like the jspec lower rail you're using now has a fuel pressure regulator on it...with a vacuum nipple. The FPR is always the last thing in the fuel system, so this shouldnt be there...the US spec cars have the FPR on the upper rail on the back, which is where your stocker is.

I think you mistook a FPR on the jspec rail, for a pulsation dampner on the US rail. That FPR needs to come off of the lower rail, and something be put in it's place...banjo bolt or pulsation dampner.

An FPR acts as a one way valve, letting fuel out of the big nipple, if it flows in from the rail. You're trying to force fuel into the big nipple and into the rail, and it won't work.

like rotary resurection said, jspec FPR and PS positions are reversed,.. lol you have 2 fpr's

so if RR said it already, why repeat it?
