Fuel Pump resistor/relay
Ok guys, I have a few q's for ya. Recently I removed the rats nest, emissions, bac, etc. Well, put it all back together and the car starts but dies after about ten seconds. So, i tear back into it and make sure my vac lines are all sealed. They are all correct, fuel lines are correct. But now, I think it is the fuel pump relay, the little white connector under the metal cover on the passenger side by the headlight kinda. It clicks when the car is in the on position, as if it is toggling between on/off. Is this possible, and would it cause the car to just die after started?? Thanks in advance.

The fuel pump receives full voltage at start-up and then drops to low voltage shortly after. If the resistor has failed, then when the relay opens to drop the voltage the fuel pump lose power and the engine will die. Check the relay and resistor as per the FSM. 5 min job.

Ok, thanks. I'll go do that

Alright, well i did the check that the manual says. It is within spec, but why would it click like this???

The resistor relay clicks at some interval after startup. Basically, you get full voltage at startup, then after like (I thought it was 10 secs), the voltage drops. Thats the clicking of the relay you are hearing.
Mine is audible in my car too. Jarrett |
Alrighty, guess I'll look for something else then:(
