please help If you are talking about the fuel pump assembly plate, the plate that the fuel pump connector and two fuel lines emerge from, then your best bet is to power off the gunk with brakleen, the sooooaaaaak the screws in PB Blaster or Kroil. Failing that, you'll have to drill the screws out. Aaron Cake has experience with this, ask him. |
sorry the fuel pump assembly its just soo bad i dont know what is what on top of it

do yourself a favor and replace the whole tank. if its rusted outside its probably got some rust on the inside.
put some CLR on it, or some naval jelly |
I have done a couple pumps.
The real Prick is the EIGHT Phillips head screws that hold the Fuel sender/pump assembly in. IF you try to get at those without some sort of penetrating oil,and letting it sit overnight, you may just end up dropping the tank to get the assembly out.The screws will most likely strip the X out of them. NOW,you can try..OR you can drop the tank and get at them Close up and personal,Which is what I ended up doing anyways. If the screw do strip the heads out you can grind the top of them off(plug hoses..Careful,Please!) and it will leave enough that you can get at it with vice grips and take out the threaded part. The gas tank is probably a 6 on the 10 scale to get out.(it is just big, that's it..no mechanical Genius needed). |
plenty of threads with pictures of the top of the tank...
pulled some random pic i found... https://www.rx7club.com/attachment.p...1&d=1203786449 8 phillips screws on the top of the tank, as you can figure where they go. |
