Fuel Pump Question

When I installed the walbro on my car I know there was no rubber sleeve around it but i do know that there were rubber bumpers on the top and the bottom where it connected to the brace. I am currently installing one on a 95 corvette and after I put the walbro in with only rubber on the bottom I noticed that the stock pump had a rubberish sleeve on it. My question is... Will metal contact with the metal chassis on the pump cause it to ground out and fail?? Or will I be okay with no sleeve? There is a half circle brace that wraps around the pump and touches in places, I just wanna know if thats safe.

Its safe, gas does not conduct electricity, and none of my stock fuel pumps had a rubber sleever or anything, just the rubber mount on the bottom. I think its more for keeping the fuel pump quiet than preventing shorts. Like I said, gas does not conduct electricity.
