fuel pump filter...clean or replace?
should i clean my fuel pump filter or replace it. Whats the best way to clean it? compressed air? brake fluid? I have the left turn stumble and when i take my fuel pump out, fuel just sits in the filter and doesnt drain out at all.

filter = cheap
rebuild = expensive final thought: get a new filter and save yourself from a rebuild... |
They are under 20 dollars from the dealership, so get a NEW one!!

Yeah, they're inexspensive. You don't have to get a Mazda filter either - go down to Pep Boys and get a Purolator.

Your talking about the one attached to the fuel pump. I had no idea that it was available at the auto store. If possible, buy one.
I had the same problem. Held fuel when you lift it out of the fuel tank. I soaked mine in paint thinner overnite to disolve the clear varnish. It drained after that. Blew it off with shop air after the soaking. Best to just buy one at the ?????dealer. EDIT: I bet if you soak it in fuel injector cleaner overnite that, that will disolve the varnish. Your seeing a clear varnish, right?? Best to buy one if available. But I'd bet the fuel injector cleaner should do the job. If it can't.....lose any faith in fuel injector cleaner doing squat for injectors! |
Quick question - Do you pull the fuel pickup from inside, or under the car?
