Fuel pump connector rewire?

For some reason my fuel pump connector on the tank is having an intermittent disconnect. I would have to wiggle the connector and my fuel pump works again though the fuel level sensor always works.

I have tried to carefully pull the plug off the pump connector but the damn thing wont budge, feels like the two connectors melted into one. I have an aeromotive stealth 340 and it does use quite a bit of juice to power the damn thing. Now if my connector is melted together, can I some how break off the plastic connector and wire in another connector with wire leads? Say, breaking off the connector to expose the pins so I can directly solder on some leads with a connector?

At that point most people go with a fuel rated and sealed bulkhead connector. There's a thread something to the effect of "my over the top fuel pump rewire" and I believe that guy did something similar. Maybe search for that thread and see if you get any ideas.

You could also search for the thread titled "Dale Clark fuel pump rewire"

The connector i found was too large to suit my needs, i wanted an conversion and keep my fuel sender. The bulkhead connector actually rated for fuel was over 1" and there isnt enough real estate on a fc lid for that

hmm..if memory is still intact..try this:
Look up Bulkhead connector as a subject and Aaron Cake as a user name.
He showed a pic of his setup. He re-did his sender/fuel tank assembly.
